About

Built for this coast

Azam Marine and Kilimanjaro Fast Ferries carries passengers and cargo between mainland Tanzania and the islands.

The fleet

The Kilimanjaro fast ferries were built by Richardson Devine Marine in Hobart, Australia, as marine grade aluminium catamarans. The newest, Kilimanjaro VII, was launched in 2019 and runs at a service speed of 33 knots.

Alongside the passenger ships, the Azam Sea Link roll-on roll-off vessels carry vehicles and freight on the same crossings.

Part of Bakhresa Group

Azam Marine is part of the Bakhresa Group, one of Tanzania's largest industrial groups.

The founding date, ownership history and corporate milestones are not published on any source we can verify. Rather than invent a company timeline, this section stays short until Azam Marine supplies the confirmed history.
